本款培養(yǎng)基一般不用于沙門菌的選擇培養(yǎng)。如需同時鑒別大腸和沙門菌，推薦使用本公司LA1900 木糖賴氨酸脫氧膽酸鹽瓊脂培養(yǎng)基，效果更佳。（大腸菌落顯黃色，沙門菌落顯黑色）

又稱麥康凱瓊脂培養(yǎng)基或是麥康凱培養(yǎng)基，具有中等強度選擇性,抑菌能力略強,主要抑制革蘭陽性菌,但有少數(shù)革蘭陰性菌也不生長,用于分離鑒定細菌的培養(yǎng)基。

一種用于分離鑒定細菌的培養(yǎng)基，大腸桿菌在其上呈紅色或粉紅色，有的菌落只是中間呈現(xiàn)紅色。由于含有膽酸鹽，能抑制革蘭氏陽性菌生長,有利于大腸桿菌的生長。

用法：稱取本品 52.0g,加熱溶解于1000ml 蒸餾水中,121℃高壓滅菌 15 分鐘,備用。
