改良Gomori網狀纖維染色原理是利用氨銀液易被組織吸附與組織的蛋白質結合，經甲醛還原成黑色或棕黑色的金屬銀，沉積于組織內及其表面。傳統方法中還原后先采用氯化金調色，再用硫代硫酸鈉溶液洗去組織上未還原的銀鹽，本改良法省略該步驟，使網狀纖維對比得更清晰。 

       網狀纖維染色液(改良Gomori氨銀法)主要經過氧化、漂白、媒染、浸銀、還原步驟。常用于鑒別腫瘤的性質和來源、癌與肉瘤、淋巴肉瘤與網狀細胞肉瘤、血管內皮瘤與血管外皮瘤、骨尤文瘤與骨網狀細胞肉瘤、腦膜瘤與星形細胞瘤、惡性神經鞘瘤及早期浸潤癌等。
